Community Reporters boost Print E-mail

Preston FM's Community Reporters project is set to benefit from a grant of £10,000 from the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust . The funding, which will kick in from April 2009, will allow Preston FM to recruit and train specialist "correspondents" from across the city to contribute news stories and features to Preston FM programmes.

The Community Reporters project is being run alongside Preston's Neighbourhood Management schemes as well as CSV Media's VolTV project and Intag . People taking part will be trained to create exciting local news programmes for Preston FM, which will be podcast on the Preston FM website as well as syndicated on a Preston "Community Reports Network" website, along with content from other project partners.  As well as radio skills, there will also be the opportunity for those taking part to gain skills in video, print and on-line journalism.

Anyone can become a community reporter, specialising in a topic or geographical area of their choice. So, if you fancy being Preston FM's Ribbleton Reporter or the station's Sports Correspondent, get in touch by e-mailing This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with "Community Reporters" in the subject line.
