Below, you can find details of the station's management and governance structures.

Day-to-day management of Preston FM is the responsibility of Prescap's Community Radio Project Manager, Richard Lace.

The community radio project is overseen by a steering group, which meets an average of four times each year. The steering group includes representatives of the project's volunteer base, as well as representatives from Prescap, local educational institutions and community organisations. The project's major funders are also invited to attend and observe steering group meeting. The steering group has the following responsibilities:

  • To provide a voice for and channel of communication between volunteers, community organisations and other interest groups involved in the project.
  • To monitor the work and outputs of the project, ensuring that it delivers to its stated aims and funded commitments.
  • To ensure the project reflects the community it serves, both in terms of broadcast output and volunteer involvement.
  • To create, maintain and exercise control over editorial policy relating to broadcast output (including taste, decency and impartiality).
  • To create, implement and regularly review a programme commissioning and scheduling policy and procedures.
  • To make any decisions delegated to it from time to time by Prescap staff.
  • To ensure through positive action that the volunteers and steering group are, as far as possible, representative of a cross section of interests and communities.
  • To assist with the development of and future vision for the project.

Ultimate responsibility for Preston FM rests with the directors and trustees of Prescap Ltd. Details of the current board of trustees can be found on the Charity Commission's website.
