About Us

Preston FM is a community radio station, reflecting all of Preston's many communities, and giving everybody the chance to get their voice heard, and their message across. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

The project is currently in its fourth year of working with other community organisations, as well as individual volunteers, to provide the following:

A new Community Radio station, broadcasting on FM and over the Internet, serving the city of Preston.
Pilot broadcasts (the sixth broadcast ended on June 29th 2008) have laid the groundwork for the launch of Preston FM as a full-time community radio station from autumn 2008. Programmes are created and presented by volunteers, and cover a wide range of topics and styles, reflecting the city's diversity.

Skills development and volunteering opportunities for all.
Presenting, recording and technical skills are all covered in a flexible programme, offered free to volunteers. Opportunities to get involved in station management, administration and policy are also available.

Media support for local organisations.
Workshops and training programmes are run, allowing local community organisations to make better use of the media and new technology to get their messages across.
